Aside from the spring Fashion Weeks, no single event embraces spring style more than the Kentucky Derby! The feminine dresses, delicate heels and of course… the HATS. The cultural phenomenon of sartorial pomp and circumstance that the Kentucky Derby generates is something I can only thank that fashion gods for. It has become a fun and fashionable event worth paying attention to… for more than just the horses! To be honest, I wish that women had more of these items in their closets and donned fabulous hats more often than just for horse races. I mean, we all saw the pictures of Will and Kate’s wedding and weren’t we all a bit jealous that we couldn’t just step outside with enormous tulle bows on our heads, without receiving puzzled looks in return? I am a huge proponent of big hats and in fact, have been wearing them since I was a toddler… I will have to dig those photos out later…
And as for the race itself, I’ve got my eye on I’ll Have Another. With a fantastic name and a star on his forehead, I’ve got a good feeling about this one. Who will you be rooting for? And more importantly, what will you be wearing?
